DROP DOWN LIST IN WORD NOT WORKING ON MAC FULL
This works perfectly on my PC and other PCs, but when it is opened on a Mac, the user sees the first entry of the drop down (Choose an item), but the full dropdown list is not available. I have created a form in MS Word 2010 that includes a dropdown list. Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated. Now I have to use the insert button at the very top of my screen, select table and manually enter the number of rows and columns. Usually a grid pops up so you can select the size you want. You don't need validation or a dropdown box or anything, you just need to have autocomplete turned on, which I think is the default. dropdown list created on a PC will not work on Mac. For example, if I go to the insert tab and then click on the 'table' dropdown, nothing comes up.
It's extremely difficult to come back years later and figure out a worksheet that relies on cells having spaces in them, since you won't see the spaces unless you know to look for them.ģ) Once your linked list is connected to your entry cell by this trail of intervening, non-empty cells, Excel's automatic auto-complete will kick in for your entry cell. All that matters is that the cell-to-cell trail is continuous.Ī single space is a good enough entry but if you use a space, I highly recommend filling the background of the cells or otherwise indicating somehow that these "connector" cells are important. The series can be both vertical across multiple rows and horizontal across multiple columns. (You could alternatively just put the actual list on the worksheet, but linking to it is good enough.)Ģ) Put some entry into a continuous series of cells to connect your dropdown cell to the list. I added entries to the list, and it works fine, but it looks like this: That word 'Select' is all that is visible of the drop-down. Using Word 365, I entered a drop-down box into a document. Put that link in as many rows as you need to capture the entire list. Drop-down list in Word doesn't look like it. The best I could find is a kludge but actually works fairly well:ġ) In the sheet where you want the dropdown, place a link to the list that resides in another sheet. I was not able to find such a solution after quite a bit of searching.
